Mercedes-AMG® lives up to its reputation as a high-performance sub-brand that illustrates the automaker’s true potential for strength, agility and stability on the road and track. As one of the most popular models in the AMG® family, the AMG® GT has garnered attention in both its standard and GT S forms.
The newest member of the AMG® family draws heavily from the legacy of the GT as well as the SLS. Mercedes-Benz unveiled the new 2019 Mercedes-AMG® GT 4-Door Coupe at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March. As the first four-door sports car from Affalterbach, this exhilarating new entry is the cause of much excitement among automotive enthusiasts.
As outlined at the Geneva Motor Show, the highlights of the 2019 Mercedes-AMG® GT 4-Door Coupe include a noteworthy blend of style, comfort and performance.
The body of the sports coupe begins with a low, elongated hood. Its "Shark Nose" grille and smooth body lines embody the brand’s Sensual Purity design philosophy. The style cues extend to the frameless side windows and sleek roofline that tapers into the rear spoiler and slim LED taillamps.
A handful of optional exterior packages — such as the glossy black Night Package, the striking Chrome Package and two sleek Carbon-Fiber Packages — will be available to give the 2019 4-Door Coupe additional style and aerodynamic properties.
What gives the 2019 Mercedes-AMG® GT 4-Door Coupe its drive to excel is its engine, and the premium automaker gave it not one, but three different engine options:
2019 Mercedes-AMG® GT 63 with a handcrafted 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine that produces 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.
2019 Mercedes-AMG® GT 63 with the same 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine but with a variable torque split and drift mode that increase horsepower to 630 and torque to 664 lb-ft.
2019 Mercedes-AMG® GT 53 with a 3.0-liter inline-six turbo with EQ boost that opts for efficiency but still manages 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque.
“The new AMG® GT 4-Door Coupe is the ultimate four-door sports car and the ideal ambassador for Performance Luxury,” said Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer for Daimler AG. “It embodies a symbiosis of emotion and intelligence with breathtaking proportions and a puristic, surface-oriented design with sensuous shapes. It is both hot and cool at the same time.”
The innovations on the 2019 Mercedes-AMG® GT 4-Door Coupe are too numerous to mention in detail, and simply discussing them doesn’t do the performance car justice. To truly appreciate this innovative, exhilarating ride, you have to experience it in person. It will be available for sale in early to mid-2019.
