Engine options and safety technologies deliver high performance in the 2017 Ford Taurus

The 2017 Ford Taurus has been engineered with a suite of available technologies to deliver superior driving performance. The large, five-passenger sedan is equipped with advanced safety features and a choice of engines, giving drivers the perfect opportunity to find a Ford Taurus ideal for their needs.

The 2017 Ford Taurus starts with an initial MSRP of $27,345. Additional trim levels for the Ford Taurus include the SE, SEL, Limited and SHO.

Performance capacity

The 2017 Ford Taurus offers powerful options for performance.  Standard is the 3.5-liter Ti-VCT engine, which drives 288 horsepower. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost® I-4 Ti-VCT Engine, available on the SE, SEL and Limited models, attains an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, and generates 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. A 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 Engine which combines turbocharging and direct injection technologies is included in the SHO trim level of the 2017 Ford Taurus; it produces 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.

Performance tools

The 2017 Ford Taurus employs a suite of technologies to enhance the driving experience. The six-speed SelectShift® Automatic Transmission with Shifter Button Activation is featured in the Taurus SE, SEL and Limited models. Drivers are able to override automatic operation with this feature. To maximize traction, the all-wheel-drive feature is standard on the SHO trim and available on the SEL and Limited trim levels.

Standard on all Taurus trim levels is the Torque Vectoring Control and Curve Control, two components of AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control (ESC) that enables drivers to better maintain control on corners and curves.

The suspension in the Taurus SHO has distinctive sport-tuned shock absorbers, stabilizer bars, strut mount bushings and springs intended to deliver cornering agility, steering responsiveness and remarkable road handling.

Since the Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) technology is perceptive of speed and powered by an electric motor as an alternative to a hydraulic pump, it can enhance the feel of steering. This technology also utilizes pull-drift compensation to assist drivers with vehicle pulling that can arise when driving on uneven roads or in crosswinds.

The 2017 Ford Taurus is equipped with a variety of available technologies and engine choices that are engineered to increase driving performance.
