This year’s Prime Day featured the usual dizzying array of discounts, deals and giveaways from online retail giant Amazon. For entrants in the Alexa Home-Smart-Home Sweepstakes, the giveaway stakes were just a touch bigger than normal. By logging into their Amazon accounts and watching a video, sweepstakes participants could qualify to win the grand prize: the all-new, Alexa-enabled 2019 Lexus ES luxury sedan.
“The winnings of the Amazon Prime Day Alexa Home-Smart-Home Sweepstakes are the real deal,” said Lexus Vice President of Marketing Cooper Ericksen ahead of the contest. “The Lexus ES is one of the first vehicles to offer Amazon Alexa functionality and is the perfect luxury vehicle to complement the smart home lifestyle. We’re excited to collaborate with such an amazing sweepstakes that gives Amazon customers the chance to win the prize of a lifetime.”
With the Alexa-enabled 2019 Lexus ES, drivers with Android phones can use spoken commands to unlock numerous functions both in and out of the car. The system’s capabilities allow drivers to initiate Alexa functions at home from their car. They can also initiate Alexa operations in their car from home.
The 2019 Lexus ES includes many other high-tech features. Before drivers enter the car, the Lexus Enform Remote service allows them to use a smartphone or Alexa-enabled device to lock or unlock the doors, start the engine and heating/cooling system and check the gas. Inside the car, connectivity is a given thanks to built-in Verizon Wi-Fi®.
The vehicle’s Lexus Multimedia System includes an 8-inch color display with GPS as well as Apple CarPlay™ compatibility, scheduled for this coming fall. There’s also an available navigation system that offers a 12.3-inch color display along with Lexus Enform Dynamic Navigation and Destination Assist services. Audio plays through a premium 10-speaker system or an available 17-speaker Mark Levinson® PurePlay Premium Surround Sound Audio System.
The Lexus ES also features plenty of high-tech safety equipment and services. Lexus Enform Safety Connect and Service Connect offer access to emergency response and maintenance alert features. Meanwhile, the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 offers a range of active features to keep drivers and passengers safe. Among them are Low-Light Pedestrian and Daytime Cyclist Detection, High Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, intelligent high-beam headlamps, Lane Tracing Assist and Road Sign Assist.
Loaded with those features, the 2019 Lexus ES represented an attractive prize even by itself, but the winner was assured of even more bounty. The grand prize package also included $50,000 and a trip to Seattle, along with a fully equipped Alexa smart home perfectly suited for using in tandem with the connected Lexus ES.
