From a Fan & a Customer to a Sales Associate:
This month marks my 1 year anniversary here at Lexus of Las Vegas. I had been with casino marketing since 2009, from the MGM Grand Las Vegas, Wynn Las Vegas, Caesars Palace, and then to the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. I started here at Lexus in June 2016. To this day I still have friends ask me: "Have you ever regretted leaving the casinos and becoming a salesperson? I think you took a huge pay cut." And my answer is still "No, I have never regretted my decision. I only regret that I didn't take the job in 2015 when it was originally offered. This is the best time I have ever had in my job."
Why the change? I got my very first Lexus, a 2006 IS 350, and from that point on I had others: a 2008 IS 350 and a 2012 IS 350. I never thought I would work at the place I buy my cars from. With the high stress in the casino, I had been thinking about a career change. I went in for service, and of course my salesperson, Rachel, came up to me and greeted me like a VIP. After some chit-chat, she asked: "Why don't you try here? I think your personality fits," and so I really gave it some thought. My philosophy is this: if I am to sell something, I really want to sell something I love. And here I am, with Lexus of Las Vegas.
Retail sales and casino market, quite a big difference in job title! But the specification is rather the same. We are building a relationship--an experience here for our clients. I am blessed to sell a product that I love, and with a product that will sell itself. With my experience in VIP service and the other languages I speak (Cantonese and Mandarin), I am here to extend the "amazing experience" to different market segments.
