The 2016 Volvo XC60 T6 AWD compact utility vehicle and the V60 Cross Country wagon were both winners at the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA)s 2016 Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year Competition.
The pair brought home awards for best Premium Utility Vehicle and best Premium Compact Utility Vehicle from the ceremony held in Shelton, Washington.
NWAPA journalistsrepresenting global, national and regional publicationsevaluated 28 vehicles in six categories across 20 different brands. Vehicles were scored on 10 criteria, including design, comfort, technology, efficiency, value and handling and capability.
That the XC60 and V60 beat such tough competition is a testament to the incredible engineering that went into them, said President and CEO of Volvo Car USA Lex Kerssemakers. Volvo has always been and always will be about people. Building strong, capable, safe cars is something Volvo never intends to stop doing.
When evaluating the vehicles, our members really put them through the ringer, said Ryan Douthit, event chair and producer of Driving Sports TV. The fact that Volvo won not one but two classes is really quite impressive.
