Car Care: Spring Cleaning
Service and detailing

You give your house a spring cleaning to clear away the debris of a hard winter, shouldn’t you treat your car to the same kind of attention? A wash and interior vacuum is within the bounds of what most people can do themselves to keep their vehicle nice, but going the extra mile can be a daunting proposition.
There’s specialized supplies and equipment, plus the required experience and know-how to fully detail a vehicle. A lot of people have tried it once or twice with poor results; impossible-to-remove wax in places it doesn’t belong, swirl marks in the paint, and how do you get that coffee stain out of light carpet, anyway?
Your dealer can help you. Even a car with plenty of miles on the odometer can shine like new when given a proper detailing. There are skilled reconditioning experts in the service department who know just what it takes to get your vehicle looking great. They keep the inventory looking fresh - even new cars need a sprucing up sometimes - and they know how to make your car look like a million bucks.
Instead of blowing an entire Saturday, or worse, trying to figure out which product is best to use, fumbling around with wax applicators or trying to remember what size bonnet to get for your power buffer, check with your dealer to see what detailing services are on offer. Their experts can do the seemingly impossible, like restore dull, tired paint to a lustrous shine, even make some scratches magically disappear, and that black trim that’s now gray will once again be dark and new-looking. They’ll often shampoo the carpets, give the seats a proper cleaning, and leave your car looking much newer for a reasonable cost. And, best of all, it’ll happen while you’re off attending to other things.
It’s worth considering a mechanical and cosmetic sprucing up for Spring, given the hard winter miles that get put on a drivetrain. Make it an efficient visit and have the oil and filter changed, and don’t forget the air filter. Clean lubricants and free breathing for the spring will maximize your enjoyment, and your fuel economy. Depending on your vehicle’s service schedule, there may be other items to check, such as the condition of the transmission fluid and wear items like the brakes, ball joints, and tie rods. Think of it like a regular physical checkup for your car.
The service department will be happy to schedule whatever appointments you’re looking for so it’s an easy process to drop your car off for a spa treatment. Getting the time you would have spent on it back for other things will make you happy, too.
