Connection elements include 3G connectivity (powered by AT&T), Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth tethering capabilities; Internet and phone access (also with text-to-speech for utmost safety).
With that, navigational and entertainment aspects include in-car infotainment apps like Yelp and WikiLocations, to discover local points of interest, automatic weather app updating based on location and Glympse, which allows you to share your position with others. You can also stream music, Internet radio stations and podcasts from apps like Pandora, TuneIn, Rdio and Stitcher from the Harman Kardon audio system.
Volvo On Call Features
With the Volvo On Call button inside every car, customers have the convenience of 24/7 roadside assistance and emergency support, complete with crash notification when the airbags or seatbelt pre-tensioners have been deployed. On-the-go service scheduling is possible with this feature, and Volvo On Call lets you know when it may be time for planned maintenance, as well.
Volvo On Call Smartphone App
Paired with the Volvo On Call feature is the accompanying smartphone app available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone users. This service provides customers with an instant status overview of their cars showing locations (providing peace of mind in the event of vehicle theft), the status of its windows and door locks, details on recent trips, the vehicle’s fuel level and average fuel mileage, and more. The majority of the Volvo On Call capabilities, such as remote engine start to heat or cool the car, requesting roadside assistance, and even sending locations directly to the in-car navigation system, can also be performed via the app.
