Ford F-150 Named Truck of Texas
2018 F-Series proves its superiority in the Lone Star State

There’s no denying that Texans love trucks, and the Ford F-150 has the reputation of being the best of the best. The legendary pickup truck has continually evolved to remain on the cutting edge, finding new ways to keep the truck market on its toes while providing for its customers.

In appreciation for the F-150’s legacy, the 2018 Ford F-150 has been given the prestigious title of the honorary “Truck of Texas.” Presented by the Texas Auto Writers Association of the Texas Truck Rodeo, this honor isn’t unfamiliar to the F-150. In fact, Ford’s F-Series has received the title 13 other times; this year, it achieved back-to-back wins.

At the 24th annual competition in October, this association of industry journalists awarded the 2018 F-150 its highest honor. “With the new 2018 F-150, we’re honored to earn back-to-back Truck of Texas awards for F-Series, a recognition that speaks to the truck team’s dedication to our hardworking customers,” said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president and president of North America Ford Motor Company.

The F-150 Raptor also took home an award in the specific Off-Road Pickup Truck category. Nabbing a top appeal score and overall exterior score, it took the trophy from its competitors. The Raptor name proves that it stands for performance—with a 450-horsepower 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine—and durability—with its upgraded shocks and chassis. Its Terrain Management System™ also prepares it for the toughest trails in Texas or any other state.

“The competition was incredibly fierce at this year’s Texas Truck Rodeo,” explained TAWA president Nic Phillips. “More than 70 member journalists put in more than 300 hours of driving time evaluating the vehicles presented.” The F-150 earned high marks for its updated EcoBoost® engines and 10-speed transmission.

For yet another year, Ford proves that it’s the badge to trust.
