Vehicle Profile: 2019 Kia Niro
A new Kia bringing a lot to the road

Around the world, countries are making strides to promote electric vehicles as fun rides that are practical for everyday life, with hybrids remaining popular for longer trips. To help bring more green to its own lineup, Kia introduced the 2019 Niro plug-in hybrid crossover to the world. It’s rolling out nationwide, and its powertrain, advanced features and creature comforts are ready to impress.

Under the hood

The powertrain of the 2019 Kia Niro is specifically a Parallel Hybrid System, which brings together an electric motor, lithium-ion battery and hybrid-optimized Atkinson cycle engine. All of the components work together to offer drivers the powerful acceleration and driving dynamics they expect from traditional vehicles. This smooth performance is without compromising the Niro’s hybrid efficiency, which achieves 105 MPGe combined.*

Cutting-edge tech

Inside the 2019 Kia Niro is technology to serve two purposes: safety and entertainment. On the safety side, the Niro comes standard with some of the most advanced features in the Kia Drive Wise arsenal. This includes Autonomous Emergency Braking, which detects possible collisions and applies the brake to prevent them or lessen their intensity. Available features like Blind Spot Detection and Smart Cruise Control help drivers know that they have an extra set of eyes watching the road for them.

When it comes to entertainment, the 2019 Kia Niro is available with options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to make connecting smartphones to it as easy as possible. An available Harman/Kardon® Premium Sound System paired with Clari-Fi decompression technology means that everyone in the vehicle enjoys the music in a quality the original recording artist intended while cruising down the road or stuck in traffic.

Comfort for miles

Many people assume that hybrid cars are all small and impractical for lives on the go. The Kia Niro has considerable 19.4 cubic feet of cargo room, even with the battery pack hidden under its floor. The seats also split 60/40 to make transporting oddly shaped items as easy as possible. With the seats folded, the cargo area expands to 54.5 cubic feet. Once drivers have everything loaded, they can sit back and enjoy the available 10-Way Power Driver’s Seat and soft leather seats.

The 2019 Kia Niro takes everything the automotive world thinks it knows about hybrids and shakes it up. It is on sale now in the United States.
