Vehicle Preview: 2018 Buick Regal GS
Buick places performance front and center with its Regal revival

For many years, the Buick Regal sedan has been considered one of the best entry-level luxury vehicles available on the market. Of course, automotive tastes are always changing and while the Regal may remain a popular choice for many, Buick decided to switch things up a bit with its Regal Sportback, Regal TourX and the Regal GS.

While the Sportback and TourX are both highly-anticipated models, the 2018 Buick Regal GS might just be the most exciting Regal variant for drivers. With a sleek new design, tons of added features and plenty of power, the 2018 Regal GS is on track to be one of the best Buicks ever.

An emphasis on power

One thing that the upcoming Regal GS does better than any other Buick is provide an abundance of power. This specialized ability is thanks in part to the Regal’s brand-new powertrain. Under the hood of the Regal GS is a 3.6-liter V6 engine. The most powerful engine in the Buick lineup, the V6 can produce 282 lb-ft of torque and 310 horsepower, 51 more horsepower than the previous Regal GS iteration. Performance is only improved by the addition of a standard nine-speed automatic transmission and intelligent all-wheel drive.

Driver-designed features

For years, Buick has built its reputation upon its luxurious vehicles. That legacy continues within the cabin of the new Buick Regal GS. The GS interior is filled with standard features designed with the driver in mind. Perhaps the most desirable of the upcoming features for the 2018 Buick Regal GS is its performance seats. These AGR-certified seats include heating, ventilation and massage functions, as well as seat-back bolsters and thigh support, for the highest level of comfort behind the wheel.

A bold Buick look

The 2018 Buick Regal GS might technically be classified as a hatchback thanks to its five-door design, but drivers have never seen a hatchback like this before. The new Regal GS manages to maintain a streamlined design that other sedans are unable to achieve. A standard rear spoiler accents the performance aspects of the vehicle.

The 2018 Regal GS will also possess some exterior aesthetics not found on any other vehicle in the Buick lineup. This includes dynamic front and rear fascias as well as exclusive GS badging. While the 2018 Buick Regal GS is a model built to perform, it need not intimidate the average driver. Duncan Aldred, the vice president of Buick and GMC’s global operations put it best when he said, “This is a sport sedan designed for everyday driving, but one that makes every drive special.”
