Many hybrid vehicles have the reputation of being underpowered or sparsely equipped as a trade-off for fuel efficiency. However, Porsche doesn’t compromise on its vehicles, which is why it created the 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, a richly appointed and powerful SUV.
Hybrid name, Porsche power
The differentiating feature for the Cayenne E-Hybrid from the rest of the Porsche lineup is, of course, the hybrid powertrain.
This starts with the gasoline engine: a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that produces 335 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. When connected to a 14.1-kWh lithium-ion battery and a 134-horsepower, 295-lb-ft electric motor, the Cayenne E-Hybrid’s performance statistics jump to a seriously impressive 455 combined horsepower and 516 combined lb-ft of torque.
The EPA has yet to rate the 2019 Cayenne E-Hybrid, but the 2018 model delivered an impressive 47 mpg in combined city/highway driving.*
In addition to advanced power, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid offers drivers a list of premium amenities.
On the outside, the 2019 Cayenne E-Hybrid includes a set of electrically folding, adjustable and heated mirrors as well as an automatic rear hatch door. This is accented by a few styling pieces in Acid Green, including the brake calipers and model designations on the front fenders and tailgate.
Inside the cabin, the 2019 Cayenne E-Hybrid includes a dual-zone climate control system with automatic air recirculation mode if it senses poor air quality outside and a hi-fi sound system with 10 speakers. The Cayenne E-Hybrid sports four USB charging ports (two in the front of the center console and two in the rear), three 12-volt plug sockets (one in the front center console, one under the glove compartment and one in the rear luggage compartment) and Porsche’s Connect Plus suite, which adds Online Navigation, Apple CarPlay™, a telephone module, wireless internet access, a Carfinder system, Remote Vehicle Status and Remote Services.
The 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid offers an exceptional counterpoint to the low-powered economy hybrids currently available, showing that an advanced powertrain can come with high performance and luxurious amenities.
