Until We Meet Again
2005-06 Teamers Say Goodbye
2005-06 Team Members
Today has completed our last
day of VBS and last VBS all together! Together we have completed seven full
weeks of VBS. Our VBS season is over, as is our tour on the road. This weekend
will be our last, and on Monday we will be heading into Minnesota for our final
debriefing week with Youth Encounter.
Words cannot describe what
kind of trip this has been. Things that have been said and unsaid in these
journals and within ourselves on the road; Captive Free has been life-changing.
Every person who does Captive Free has an incredibly different experience, but
there is change in each person all the same. This year has been amazing for us,
so many people have been touched by God, and so many people have touched us and
will be remembered this year. We thank you all so much for support and prayers
through our year on the road. The amazing memories and people will never be
forgotten, we thank God so much for you, but it hurts so bad to leave. We pray
that God goes with you in everything you do, that you will continue having
teams to bless you and you to bless them. Truly what an amazing, tough,
incredible ministry this is.

A Day of Celebration
Homecoming 2006
Kate Tripoli
On Saturday, August 12,
family, friends and fans gathered with the 2005-06 team members at Concordia
Academy in Roseville, MN, to celebrate their year of ministry and send them off
into the long-awaited “real world.” The morning began with all the teams gathered
on stage to sing one of their favorites, “Sing Like the Saved” by Matt Redman,
led by Captive Free Gulf Coast. Several members of the Youth Encounter staff
then introduced Captive Free North Central, Watermark-Germany, Captive Free
West Lakes, Captive Free South Central, Rainbow of Promise, and Captive Free
North East, as the National Teams each performed two songs and the
International Teams shared 20 minutes of cultural music and pictures from their
overseas tours.

Sounds Like Love Coming in November!
Register Today!
Susie Anderson
Sounds
Like Love will be happening the weekend of November 10-12, 2006 at St. Andrew’s
Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, MN. We are sending out registration packets to
churches, so watch your mailbox for it. You can also register online at www.youthencounter.org/sll/.
Registrations are due by September 29. This year the special guest artist is By
the Tree. They have a pop-rock sound with a focus of pure worship and praise. This
event is an excellent way to meet new people and build lasting relationships,
such as with your host family, students from other churches, students from your
own church, and with the leaders from your church. This is a great weekend to
share your gift of singing with others and to worship the Lord. If you have any
questions about Sounds Like Love, please contact Susie Anderson at (651)
287-8481 or by e-mail at susie@youthencounter.org.

Gearing Up for 2007 National Events
Rock the Campus and EDGE
Danielle Tietjen
I am so excited about the
launch of our new Middle School Summer Event, Rock the Campus, and our second
year for the National High School Event, EDGE. Youth Encounter provides
churches with such quality regional weekend Events that it was only a matter a
time before we branched out to extend our Event ministry into the summer. Having summer Events allows churches to
extend their ministry through the summer months without much planning. Why are
the Events so easy to attend? Because Youth Encounter takes care of everything
for you! All you have to do is get there. Here are the dates for the summer of
2007. Mark your calendars!
JUNE: Rock the
Campus, Purdue University, IN, June 27-30, 2007
JULY: EDGE, Kansas City, KS, July 20-24, 2007
AUGUST: Rock the Campus, Union College, NY, August 5-8, 2007

Even in the Why
God and the Big Questions
Bob Lenz
“If there
is a God, then why…?” You can fill in the blank. Why did my dad die when I was
in the eighth grade? Why did my brother get cancer? Why is there someone
handicapped in my family? Why are there starving children? I wish I had an
answer to all the “ why’s” in life.
But know this. To question itself is good. Many people have felt bad when
they’ve questioned God for fear they’re doubting Him. Questions allow you to
search and dig for answers, which I believe will lead you to God. There are no
answers to dispel all our questions. What needs to be dispelled are the many
wrong answers that have been given in the name of our God and in the name of
the Church.
