New Opportunities in Recruitment
Applying For Team Has Never Been Easier
Jeff Rowdon
There are so many things
going on in our Recruitment Department at Youth Encounter that I hardly know
where to begin! Here are some of the highlights, reminders and challenges.
The application for our music
ministry teams is now online! You can create a username and password for
yourself on our website and then work on the application at your own pace, saving
your work along the way. Then you can come back to the site at anytime and
log back in to continue working on it. Once you’re done you can send it our
way. The link to get started is http://secure.youthencounter.org/eseries/scriptcontent/index.cfm
. You can also still download a printable version of our application by
going to this link: http://www.youthencounter.org/teams/pdf/team_app_packet.pdf

Summer 2007: Rock the Campus
Introducing Middle School Youth to the Wild Ride of Faith
Danielle Tietjen
What I love about Youth
Encounter is their love for sharing Jesus with all people locally, nationally
and across the globe. Youth Encounter desires to create an atmosphere--whether
it’s in your own home congregation, a youth center, retreat site, or event--that
makes it possible for you to have an encounter with the Giver of
Life. Youth Encounter has found success in how many lives have been touched
with its different ministries, and I am thrilled to announce one more avenue to
add to a long list of those opportunities.
The Launch. Big
announcement. New addition. Hot off the press. Headline news. Extra, extra,
read all about it. Say it how you want, but here it is…ROCK THE CAMPUS IS
COMING, AND YOU NEED TO BE THERE! Summer 2007 is a big one for Youth Encounter
as we host our first ever summer Middle School Event! We can hardly believe it
ourselves, but Youth Encounter has made this dream a reality. This amazing new
ministry will be held June 27-30, 2007 at Purdue University in Indiana and August
5-8, 2007 at Union College in New York.

Looking Ahead in the Events Department
Job Openings, Group Discounts, and More
Jennifer Noyes
The 2005-06 Middle School Quakes and High School
Zones are officially finished for the year and we at Youth Encounter are
celebrating all the incredible things God has done this year!
Here are a few of the many comments we’ve received
this season…
“I learned that no
matter what you go through in your life, it always happens for a reason and God
will always be with you.” (youth)
“I have grown in my
foundation with God and may have heard a calling!” (adult volunteer)
“This is a wonderful faith
"enforcer"…making you feel great and excited about God's gift of
life!” (youth leader)
“When I see the kids
embracing worship, that becomes a ministry to me and I am so spiritually
uplifted by the experience.” (youth leader)
We are also excited about
many things for next year!

Spring Gala 2006: Fellowship, Celebration, and Laughs
Alumni and Friends Gather to Honor Youth Encounter's Ministry
Kate Tripoli
On May 8, 151 Youth Encounter friends, alumni, donors, staff
and board members gathered at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn
Center, Minnesota to celebrate the ongoing ministry year at the Spring Gala
(formerly known as the Fellowship Dinner). The festivities began with a silent
auction with over 90 items available for bidding from jewelry to handmade
quilts to international art to LEGO sets. Live music was provided during the
auction by Captive Free North Central (Sarah Danielson, Aaron Fong, Jenny
Frantz, Andrea Laneri, Dana Reynolds, and Todd Thieme). Dinner featured music
supplied by Tiffany Schmader, Director of National Team Ministries, and was
followed by a great video presentation of Youth Encounter’s ministry in the
United States and around the world.
The evening’s program began with River ( www.riverministries.net), an
inspirational music group consisting of Phil Reesnes, Kurt Linn, and Paul
Marino, three former Youth Encounter team alumni who have been ministering
together for thirteen years. Before they sang, however, President Larry Johnson presented the group with the 2006 Alumni
Service Award for outstanding continued ministry and faithfulness to the
Gospel. “This is amazing,” they said. “I think Paul’s going to cry.”

Ken Davis to Speak at EDGE!
The Popular Speaker Answers Our Questions
Youth Encounter
Best-selling
author, frequent radio and television guest, and one of the country's most
sought after inspirational and motivational speakers, Ken's mixture of
side-splitting humor and inspiration delights and enriches audiences of all
ages. His books have received national critical acclaim, including the
"Book of the Year" award and the Gold Medallion Award. He is a
featured speaker for Promise Keepers and a frequent guest on "Focus on the
Family". Youth Encounter is thrilled to have him as one of our main speakers
this year at EDGE! 2006 in Nashville.
YE: How did you get into professional
public speaking?
KD:
I was encouraged by a high school English teacher to take speech. I began
using the skills I learned there in the ministry. From there, the
demand for me to speak grew to a point where I could no longer ignore
it. In 1973, I went full time and I have never looked back.

Get Out of the House This Summer
Join a Spoke Folk Tour!
Eric Arundel
“You don’t have to be a
biker stud to go on tour.” This is the phrase that is shared the most by people
who have gone on a Spoke Folk tour before and, trust me, they’re right! Anyone
can handle the biking on tour. You don’t have to be in great shape or be a
biker stud or studette.
Our summer tours are
shaping up very well this year, but we are still looking for some great folks
to join us. Come be a part of this amazing, life-changing ministry! Oh, and you
get a free t-shirt too!

Surrounded By Such a Great Cloud of Witnesses
Read Excerpts From Rainbow of Promise's Online Journal
Rainbow of Promise
It has been five days since
we left India. I am sitting at home in Pittsburgh, PA with a cool drink, and
yes, I have ice in my glass and yes, it contains no fruit, but it doesn't say
so on the can. In India we never had ice with our sodas and each soda bottle
had the words contains no fruit. I never did find the soda where there was
actually fruit in it.

The Smiles and Enthusiasm Were Rewarding
Read Excerpts From Captive Free South Central's Online Journal
Captive Free South Central
We spent this last weekend
hosting games and songs and programs and worship for the community in Osborne,
Kansas. We played games for hours upon hours with the youth ranging from
four-year-olds to middle schoolers. The hours were long and grueling, yet the
smiles and enthusiasm beaming from these youth were rewarding and inspiring.
Out of the many games we played, two of my favorites were Ultimate Duck Duck
Goose and the Dating Game. I could not stop joyfully laughing while watching
the four-year-old Sarah leap over the tall pastor in the attempt to reach the
ball in the middle of the circle before her competitor. It was a real treat to
entertain and captivate the young audience during the Dating Game and then
rejoice as the youth volunteered to create characters of their own and
entertain their peers. The weekend was filled with laughter and fun! Yeah God,
that we can come together and celebrate fellowship with one another in such an
exciting way!

Get Money Back and Give to Youth Encounter While You Shop
Brett Koopman
As a part of our growth
campaign, Youth Encounter has initiated a unique fundraising project. The
program is SHOP4ZERO, a growing Internet mall that contributes to non-profit
organizations as it gives cash to its members for their online shopping and

As we further our ministry of
proclaiming Christ and changing the lives of youth worldwide, we are so pleased
about this tremendous opportunity. You, our faithful supporters, are now able
to contribute toward Youth Encounter while at the same time earning a cash-back
