Homecoming 2003
2002-03 Teams Celebrate an Awesome Year of Ministry!!!
by Brett Koopman
Youth Encounter’s thirteen
ministry teams shared the impact of their ministry with family and friends at
Bethel College on Saturday, August 9.
The sunny 85-degree day
provided a perfect setting for fun, fellowship and celebrating the wonderous
works that God has done through the ministry teams. Two Homecoming concerts
began and ended the day with an afternoon full of food, personal sharing
sessions with each team and afternoon concerts from each Captive Free
band.

Youth Encounter Is On The Move!
Youth Encounter Has a New Home...
by Brett Koopman
Youth
Encounter is always on the move, through ministry that serves young people in
more than fifty countries. However, our office "home" has been very stable.
Now, after twenty-three
years in a Minneapolis suburb, Youth Encounter is moving to the other side of
the “Twin Cities”, a suburb of Saint Paul.
Since we are all part of the “communion of saints”, this seems
appropriate.
Our new address is Youth Encounter, 3490 Lexington Ave N,
Suite 300, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55126.
Our new phone number is 651-287-9688
and our fax number is 651-287-9689. Three ways to contact us remain the
same. Our 800 number will continue to
be 1-800-65YOUTH (1-800-659-6884),
our e-mail is encounter@youthencounter.org
and our web address is www.youthencounter.org.
The staff is moving on
August 22-23.
Come visit us when you are
in the Saint Paul area!!

Faith Factor 2003-2004
The Most Comprehensive Ministry Resource for High School Youth Available Anywhere!
www.communityyouth.org
by Rev. Dawn Mass-Moser
Another reality show is
making millions. Can Americans overcome
their fears? Fears that is, of bugs,
rodents, cramped spaces, heights, extreme stunts, and other things that just
plain gross us out! While millions of
teens look on, making role models out of television dare devils and wishing to
be fearless like them, teens in the year 2003 are not immune to fear. Teens fear things from who they will sit
with at lunch, to their future, to losing a friend to suicide or drug abuse.
Fear IS a factor for teens.

Side By Side Global Work Crews 2003
Updates on the Tanzania and India Crews!
by Emma Kasiga
Global Work Crews have come and gone. Although initially we
had planned for four tours, it was certain that God had other plans. So we
listened, and obeyed… and then there were only two crews this summer: to
Tanzania and to India.
The Tanzania Crew arrived in Minneapolis for training on
June 20, and trained for two days before departing on Sunday afternoon for
Tanzania. They were excited and anxiously looking forward to serve. And speaking
of excitement, I learned a thing or two this year through the Tanzania crew
members...

A Look Back: Captive Free South Central 2002-03
Rejoicing in the Ministry of South Central!
by Shawn Juers
“The last South Central Quake is now over. With Daniel's
Window as the guest artist, Bill Yonker as the speaker, and God's presence, I
can say once again that this was an awesome event. Going into this Quake I was
concerned about the energy level, being that there was a smaller group of kids
here (about 90). But I was instantly proved wrong when the first celebration
started. The kids were excited to be there and the energy level went through
the roof. Anyone who might have had their excitement in reserve had to let go
when Daniel's Window took stage. They proved to be a huge inspiration for me.
And Bill, with his excellent "I tell you that to tell you this"
messages were the highlights of each celebration for many.
Tearing down
Sunday afternoon was a bittersweet moment. It marks the end of the event
season. Had I not kept myself busy, I think a tear might have leaked it's way
from my eye.

An Amazing Heart For God
Remembering and Rejoicing in the Ministry of West Lakes!
by Annie Shoen
“I think my
favorite ministry opportunity--that I'd like to share with you--is a
conversation I had at the event last weekend. I had an amazing opportunity to
meet with, talk with, and share with an amazing child of God in Chicago. I have
no idea why or how--but God led a girl to meeting with me. We had done a
celebration program at the event and I had noticed her in the crowd. She would
smile up at me, while singing, but she seemed to have an urgency within her. I
could sense it even while being on stage. But I had forgotten about it, in the
midst of all the things going on. She didn't. She walked up to me on Saturday
and asked if we could talk. It was one of those divine moments where God is in
control and you, yourself, don't know how things happened--but they did.

Impact More Youth
Make A Difference Each Time You Use Your Phone!
by Brett Koopman
Youth Encounter is very excited to offer you a new
opportunity to support our ministries. It's so easy! Just by paying your
monthly telephone bill you will make a significant difference within our
organization. You can do this simply by switching your home phone service
provider or establishing new service
This opportunity was made available just
last month and we need your help to make it a success. The impact that 10% of
your monthly phone bill would have on Youth Encounter is tremendous and would
be very beneficial in supporting the various ministries that we coordinate.
As we strive to strengthen the Church
through the Christian faith and ministry of young people around the world, your
participation is greatly appreciated.
Together we can make a difference!
