Fourth Annual Fellowship Dinner Celebrates Youth Encounter's International Ministry
A Night of Mission and Ministry!
by Joe Lindell
More that 225 people
gathered from places far and near to learn more about Youth Encounter’s
International team ministry. After
dinner and warm conversation, guests enjoyed a video slideshow with highlights
of Youth Encounter’s 2002-2003 ministry year.
Rev. Hal Stoa recognized
Youth Encounter’s Heritage Society Members, each of who has contributed $10,000
or more to Youth Encounter’s ministry or has included Youth Encounter in their
estate plans.
Rev. Chuck Lindquist,
General Director of the World Mission Prayer League ( www.wmpl.org) encouraged the audience, “ Nilikuonyesha nyota na uliangalia kidole tu.”
which is Swahili for “I pointed out to you the stars and all you saw was the
tip of my finger.” He emphasized that
despite fears of terrorism and disease, Youth Encounter must continue its
mission to strengthen the international church through the faith and ministry
of its youth.

Cross Fire Makes An Impact in West Africa
The Birth of a New Church
by Dan Bredberg
WOW! What an
amazing day of ministry in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord! I have never
experienced the power of the Holy Spirit in such a way as I did today. The
"Main Event" of the day was our visit to Fongbe Village.
This was a
village that Kodjo (our friend/Pastor/Contact) knew had long been rejecting the
church. They had even burnt down previous buildings that people had set up as
churches, largely because the chief of the village was very anti-Christian. Today,
however, we were welcomed into the village by the Chief. After he told us about
the difficulties they had been experiencing—such as bad water, sickness, poor
roads for trade—he said that we could go ahead and present our
"program" for the people who were in the Town Center.

Welcome Back, International Teams!
Five Teams Share Stories of Their Overseas Ministry

Captive Free South East
Check out excerpts from their Online Journal!
by Captive Free South East
“As Micheal Tait
(of DC Talk) said to us when we saw him live at a Christian bookstore in
Nashville, 'we all have struggles in our lives, we all have our own change
of seasons. But no matter what happens God will always be there for us.' As
a team we saw a perfect example of this when we visited a girls home this past
month. At this home there were many girls who experienced many struggles in
life, from using drugs, to eating disorders, to pregnancy. By being in this
home they were trying to overcome those struggles with God's help.

Captive Free North West
A Day in the Life...
by Captive Free North West
“For the past
two nights we have been in Eugene, OR. On our second night here we ran the
Wednesday night youth group at the church. Three of the local church youth
groups all meet together to make a group of about 20 kids. We had an amazing
time with them, singing, playing games and doing a Bible study about friends.
I have been
impressed this entire year by the youth of today. I wish I would have had the
knowledge and the faith that these kids already have when I was growing up. I
have been very blessed at seeing these youth and being a part in strengthening
their faith.

Reflections from the Rookie
A Word from the Events Division
by Jeremy Rodriguez
During the Twin Cities
Congress, the event crew tagged me with a very fitting name... “Rookie”. Of
course, I could not argue with that name because, in all honesty, it was the
truth. Not only was this my first year as an event director, but this year marked
the first time I had ever been to a Youth Encounter event! Overwhelming? Yes,
but as our good friend Peder Eide says, “God is good, all the time!!” Looking back, the year was
filled with both trials and triumph.

2003 Faith Inkubators Renaissance
News from our Friends at Faith Inkubators
by Amy Steubing
Are you ready to build the
kind of team that can inject energy, passion, life, and fun into the
educational ministries of your church?
If so, Faith Inkubators’ Eighth Annual Renaissance Team Training
Conference is just what you need to get your team ready for the fall. Come and join FINKs from all over the world
for four days of cross-pollination. The
Renaissance Team Training Conference will be held July 28-31 at the FINK home
offices and Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Minnesota.
This year we will be
focusing on how the Faith Inkubators system can work in churches of all
sizes. We have keynoters from rural
North Dakota, a large church in Minneapolis, and a suburban church in Virginia
who will share how they are using FINK in their churches. Our FINK staff and trainers will turn your
group into a “Dream Team” by the time we’re through. You will also have the opportunity to experience the beautiful
Victorian town of Stillwater at an opening picnic Monday night, a lunch cruise
on the St. Croix River, and an uplifting concert by Christsyde, a Christian rap
group from Los Angeles.
For more information on
the Renaissance Team Training Conference check out www.faithink.com or call
