I would like to take this
opportunity to invite you all to attend our Eighth Annual Spring Gala on
Monday, May 7, 2007 at the Holiday Inn Select in Bloomington, MN. A punch
reception and silent auction will begin at 5:30. The silent auction will
include many wonderful items including theater tickets, gift certificates,
museum tickets, and global items from our International Teams!
Dinner will begin at 6:45 with a
short break afterwards before beginning the program portion of our dinner. The
program, which will focus on our new Community Based Team ministry, will
include music from 100 White Flags, a local alumni band (see below); music and
ministry sharing from our pilot Community Based Team, Lifeline (see below); a
drama from our Stillwater Community Based Team; and a sharing on the vision and
future of Youth Encounter’s ministry involving Community Based Teams.
The Spring Gala is a great way to
support Youth Encounter! If you would like to be involved in the dinner, donate
an item for the silent auction, or if you would like to attend the Gala, please
contact Michelle at 651-287-8471 or at
michelle@youthencounter.org.

The name
100 White Flags evokes an image of surrender and humility. It also
paints a powerful picture of love and sacrifice. Taking their name from a story
that parallels the prodigal son parable in Luke 15, 100 White Flags is coming
in full force to share this message of hope and love. Mixing blues and rock
with a folky songwriting style, this Minneapolis band has a great sound with
strong lyrics.
100 White Flags is Beth Dorsing
on guitar and vocals (formerly Beth Gearhart, Girl With Guitar), Jeromy Dorsing
on bass, Paul Tietjen on guitar and vocals, and Zac Harder on drums. The band
got its start when Beth, Zac, and Jeromy began playing together as a part of
Beth’s solo career. One day, Paul showed up with his guitar, they jammed, and
the rest is history. Visit us on the web at

Lifeline
(Jon Glenn, Jenn Albert, and Sara Berge) is Youth Encounter’s pilot Community
Based Team, based at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, South Dakota,
throughout this school year. This team has experienced new dynamics of team
ministry that are based on long term relationships and connecting to one place
for ministry. For example, Lifeline has established a new Saturday night
worship at First Lutheran. This service takes place in the new Mission
Coffeehouse, which serves as a great place of relational ministry for the team.
As Lifeline and First Lutheran continue to step out in faith together this
year, God is faithful in meeting them and blessing their ministry. For more
information, visit
the team's website.
