A Lesson Learned
by Allison Schwarz

I have to admit that when I first came on team, I did not know what to expect. I thought I'd be going out and singing and changing different people's lives. I thought this year would be full of only fun and good things. Of course, as usual, I was quickly proven wrong. Things are not as simple as I thought. Some days we feel stressed out and drained, but people all over are looking up to us. So we do our best each time to give it our all. But sometimes those same days that aren’t going well are the days when a sweet child comes and tells me they want to be just like me. Or maybe a struggling teen comes along and is given a spark of hope. Those things give me the motivation from day to day.

How could I let a day of stress and a few bad things stand in my way? I may feel that I'm not all I can be or that I can't do anything right. But If I'm spreading God's love, how can I do anything wrong? I'm amazed at how many little things can be more grand than any of the great things our society claims as "big and great." The smile from an unknown face or a hug from a stranger wanting to share their happiness…how amazing! Though sometimes I may feel homesick or want to stay in my own little world, with each step outside, my light is starting to spark in someone else's life and has a much greater reward that any other adventure I've ever endured before! Thank you, Lord, for each precious blessing in my life.
