Tackling a Job Search? Watch.
Monster, Yahoo! HotJobs, Craigslist, CareerBuilder, Idealist.org. Google "job sites" and you get 1,430,000 hits. Granted, these all don't lead you to actual sites where you can search for positions or post your resume, but it's safe to say that there are more online job sites for employment seekers than pairs of shoes in the average woman's closet (prove us wrong by taking the Snapshot Survey at right). As the resources rise, so does your need for increased online job search-savvy. Good thing Liz Ryan, WorldWIT CEO and workplace expert, is here to offer her tips for 21st century job searching on BusinessWeek Online's video forum. Watch and listen while you clean out your closet and search for those lucky interview pumps.

Office emails: Hijacks or hijinks?

Dear Liz,
I work in a medium-sized, publicly held high tech company where productivity is driven by email. Recently a new thing started in the office where a co-worker "hijacks" another co-workers computer and sends out unauthorized emails that are often inappropriate or embarrassing to the entire team. I certainly don't want to get anyone fired but would like the behavior to stop.
Any advice?

Pinch Me...or Don't

I worked in the same position for almost 7 years directly supporting my supervisor's project. I had asked for stretch assignments and new challenges to no avail. When the opportunity arose for me to temporarily work on a new project I jumped at the chance. One day, my supervisor stopped by to see how I was doing and I told him that I wanted to stay in the new position because I was learning new technology and it was a good fit for me. During the same time period, my husband's family business was in the middle of rebuilding due to a lawsuit. My supervisor suggested that I go work for my husband's business! I found a new supervisor who is supportive of my career inside the company.
