My boss gives a lot of attention to one colleague. How do I bring up the issue?

I try to ignore it when my boss plays favorites, but there is one relatively new hire who seems to get a lot more of our manager’s attention than anyone else. At times, it’s hard to take. How do you suggest I bring this issue up with my boss?

Pinch Me...or Don't

Recently we were planning our annual ethics seminar. The chair of the committee felt that the prices were too high, and was adamant that they be lowered for this seminar. Since seminar prices are set by the Board, that wasn't going to happen. When I explained this, he suggested that I allow a "typo" to sneak into the flyer advertising the event to make the price lower "by accident."
