What's Wrong? Oh Nothin' Honey
Pinch Me...or Don't
In my office it's still 1950. My boss, who is director level, calls everyone on staff "Hun." Even worse, this director is a woman! One would think she would know better since most women have been subjected to this term. On occasion she does say, "Oh, I know I shouldn't call people hun or honey, but it's just my way." Even worse, when she arrives in the morning or returns from a meeting she announces herself by loudly exclaiming, "Hi kids." All of the employees are between the ages of 40 and 60. Telling her to stop is out of the question since I routinely hear her complain that she can't swear around Barbara since Barbara asked her politely not to use the spectrum of four letter words in the office. I finally hit my limit when I manager from another department walked passed me and I said, "Hello Susan," and she responded, "Hi hun." My only thought is I need a new job. - Caitlyn, MassWIT
