Too Late for a Retraction?
Twenty years ago, a Newsweek article, "Too Late for Prince Charming?", stated that college-educated women over the age of 35 were more likely to be killed by a terrorist than to get married. While this article may have been a shock both to the feminist movement and to women's sensibilities, the stereotype of the single, 35+ woman has permeated public culture, from Baby Boom to Sex and the City. Now, Newsweek has retracted and revisited this story, recognizing the growing numbers of women who are enjoying love, marriage and motherhood after 40. Is the retraction enough, though, or has this myth damaged the women's movement and permenently etched a stigma on single women over 40? Let us know what you think.

Handling the Client-Side Bully
Selling Skills for Non-Salespeople
I talk a lot in this space about consultative selling, understanding the client’s business, coming up with creative solutions and the like, but of course, sometimes the client won’t let you do that. That's a Gas!
Pinch Me... or Don't
When I'd been working in the oil and gas exploration industry for just a few years -- this was back in 1975 -- I'd had a promotion to project team lead. I was enthusiastic, loved my job, adored the work I was doing (that was before I got "born-again, environmentally"), and was now the proud supervisor of the best team in the company. Then one day a group of big-wigs were passing through the offices and stopped at my office door. My boss introduced me by name. At that point, one of the big-wigs stepped forward to shake my hand, and proudly pronounced, "My word, so you're our token female! Glad to meetcha!" Talk about splashing ice-cold water on my rosy-cheeked enthusiasm! -Michele, RockyWIT
