Newsflash: Women Make Effective Leaders
A newly released international study by a human resources consulting group finds that women business leaders scored highly in the areas of tenacity, persuasiveness, and risk appetite, making them just as equal, if not better, candidates for executive positions. The group's chief executive noted, "If some organisations are still apprehensive over appointing women to top positions, then this study should reassure them once and for all. Top female business leaders are just as effective as their male counterparts." Tell us what you think: Is this a groundbreaking study? Does it reassert the obvious? Will it fall on deaf ears? Let us know what you think about the study and about why only seven of the Fortune 500 companies are headed by a woman.

How do I acknowledge time as a SAHM on a resume?

I have a friend who took about 5 years away from the workforce to raise her young children and is now making plans to return to work. She is working on her resume and I wondered if there is a way to reflect that in her resume without leaving a gap of 5 years. She doesn't really want to use a functional resume, but is stuck trying to write a chronological resume. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Veronica

My Aching Head (Of Benefits)!
Pinch Me...Or Don't

I had been having headaches over several weeks and sometimes arrived to work late because of being up the night before due to the headache. Finally one weekend I went to the hospital and they treated me for a sinus headache and gave me two prescriptions for the infection and vicodin for the severe pain. The next morning at work my manager walked into my office and saw my inhaler and a prescription bottle. I told her how I went to the hospital and was given this medication, including the vicodin. I thought I was conveying how I had been a trooper by still coming into work despite the aching pain. Then she asked if she could buy some from me! I said my prescription was a refill and she then offered to buy the refill, saying something about arthritis. Two weeks later she followed me in the hallway to my office, seriously repeating the request! I never gave or sold her any vicodin. And we both worked in the Corporate Department of Human Resources for a very large company where she was the manager of benefits.
