The Talk of Shame
Pinch Me...or Don't!

Once when I was working as an administrative assistant at an investment company I answered my boss's phone as I normally would. The caller immediately said, "I just wanted to let you know that I'm going through your closet for walk home clothes." I replied, "Is that the message you'd like to leave?" The line went dead. Apparently my boss's one night stand wanted to playfully avoid the walk of shame, but ended up shamefully embarrassed. I didn't pass on the message.

Stop Corporate Lactose Intolerance
by Liz Ryan

WorldWIT Founder and CEO Liz Ryan tackles the hush-hush subject of breast feeding at work in her recent BusinessWeek Online article. She provides advice on how to improve HR policies to accommodate (and validate) new moms. "Wouldn't such a modest gesture suggest that we mean what we say about employees being our greatest asset, about our support for working women, and about our commitment to work-life priorities? Doesn't our silence speak volumes as well?"
