The Long-term Effectiveness of Deep Brain Stimulation for the Treatment of Dystonia
The results of three studies on the long-term treatment of dystonia with deep brain stimulation were recently reported at the 8th International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders. The length of follow-up ranged from six months to eight years. Overall, the patients with primary dystonia appeared to have better and more sustained results that those with secondary dystonia.
