Family History of Dementia May Be a Risk Factor for Hallucinations in Patients with Parkinson’s Disease
Patients with Parkinson’s disease may have sleep disorders, visual hallucinations, or both. Researchers recently investigated the link, if any, between these two problems and found that although they have often been considered to be associated behaviors, hallucinations and sleep disorders follow very different patterns of progression in patients with PD.

Sleep Disorders and Hallucinations Are Not Linked in Patients with Parkinson’s Disease
Hallucinations and sleep disorders occur frequently in people with Parkinson’s disease. Although physicians have long thought that the two findings were related, researchers from the University of Chicago presented the results of their research at the 2004 meeting of the American Academy of Neurology and dispelled that belief.

Zydis Selegiline Has Been Shown to Be Safe and Effective in Parkinson's Disease
Researchers who conducted a multicenter study of a new formulation of selegiline—Zydis selegiline—have concluded that the drug is safe and effective when used in combination with levodopa for the treatment of patients with Parkinson’s disease who have motor fluctuations.
