Golf for a Day
by Dana L. Luna

It has been an arduous fall season for many businesswomen and men this year, and time to rejuvenate has been hard to find. The NAWBO/WBCS Golf Classic “fit the bill” by providing a day to relax and take advantage of the networking opportunities that a day of golf offers.

Held on October 22nd at Brookhaven Country Club, the Classic was a popular outing attended by over 200 people. Beautiful weather was present throughout the day, but the highlight of the day was the tournament itself and the “extras” that went with it. All participants of the tournament and the Tee Party enjoyed overflowing goodie bags, great food, a “Diamond in the Rough” giveaway and a silent auction filled with unique items. Winners received cash prizes, putters and other assorted golf items.

The “Tee Party” and Clinic was filled to the brim this year with over 40 participants who learned directly from the experts. Patricia Dixon, Owner of Empowered Women’s Golf presented a short seminar on golf etiquette, techniques and how to use golf in business. In addition, all attendees participated in an outdoor clinic where they practiced techniques and were instructed by Brookhaven golf professionals. Each participant also received a videotape of their golf swing with comments on how to improve. The clinic concluded with the opportunity to play a practice mini-course.

Special thanks to the event title sponsor, Lockheed Martin! The tournament was a huge success due to their support.
