Volvo Service for Life

Comprehensive vehicle care: another way Volvo makes owners feel valued

One of the great things about owning a Volvo is the remarkable feeling of security it provides. For decades, Volvo owners have been secure in the knowledge that their cars would protect them in the event of an accident, and now the Service for Life program gives Volvo owners the same confidence about their vehicle maintenance.

“With Service for Life and our 5-year Safe+Secure programs, our goal is to help our customers keep their Volvos running reliably for many years,” said Rick Bryant vice president for customer service at Volvo Cars of North America. “We realize that not every Volvo driver will put 3 million miles on their car but we want to help them out for as long as they want to keep going.”

Service for Life provides an array of complimentary benefits to owners of model year 2000 and later Volvos, even if the cars are out of warranty.

Modern cars all contain a network of small computers that manage everything from the engine, transmission and brakes to the climate control, seats and windows. Just as our home computers and smartphones get regular software updates, the engineers at Volvo monitor older models and develop fixes for issues found in the field.

Other companies charge typically customers $100 or more for these updates, unless they are part of a recall, but not Volvo. With Service for Life, the service department at any Volvo dealer will install these updates in your car free of charge.

Among the many functions performed by the powertrain computer is monitoring for sensor or hardware faults that could cause performance or emissions problems. When a problem is detected, the “Check Engine” lamp in the instrument panel is lit up. Volvo owners can bring their cars to the dealer for a free diagnosis with factory approved tools.

Regardless of a warning lamp, if you think something might be wrong with your Volvo, just bring it into your authorized dealer. In addition to reading out any diagnostic codes, factory-trained and certified technicians will conduct a series of tests to pinpoint exactly what might be wrong. If a repair is needed, you’ll get a written estimate free of charge and without any obligation.

If you need any repairs on your Volvo, or even just regular maintenance services like oil and filter changes, no one is better equipped to handle the job than a Volvo dealer. All work will be done with genuine Volvo-approved parts and materials, and you can rest easy that the job will be done right. With Service for Life, Volvo has also doubled the warranty on any repair parts and labor to a full two years.

Few things are worse than having car trouble while you’re on the road. The Safe+Secure program provides owners of new Volvos with five years of free On Call® Advantage Roadside Assistance. Owners of Volvos not covered by a warranty can now get this same emergency assistance at a special discounted rate of just $44.95 a year. That price provides peace of mind for your Volvo and all the cars in your household, even if they wear a different badge.

It’s not at all unusual for a Volvo to accumulate hundreds of thousands of miles in its lifetime. Whether you’re on the first hundred-thousand miles or closing in on three million, your Volvo needs regular maintenance. Volvo Express service means you can get many of these routine tasks handled quickly at the dealer, without an appointment.

Volvo Certified Body and Paint centers can also keep your Volvo looking as good as the day it came out of the factory. The trained professionals can fix anything – from scrapes and door dings to full collision repairs – to Volvo’s exacting standards.

When your tires inevitably wear out and need replacement, there’s no better place to do it than the Volvo dealer. Volvo Tire Advantage provides two years of complimentary road hazard coverage on all recommended tires.

“We’ve got everything you need for your Volvo,” added Bryant “and we’re committed to delivering a service experience that’s best in class.”

Whether you have a new Volvo still covered by Safe+Secure or an older model under Service for Life, Volvo has your back.
