Safety is priority number one when designing a vehicle, and the Kia Forte has proven its dedication to your well being year after year. The 2018 Forte was officially named a 2018 Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The IIHS tests vehicles in a variety of categories, including crashworthiness, crash avoidance and mitigation and passenger safety restraints. In order to qualify for the Top Safety Pick+ designation, the highest safety rating from the IIHS, a vehicle must meet strict criteria.
“To qualify for 2018 TOP SAFETY PICK+,” said the IIHS, “A vehicle must earn good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, as well as an acceptable or good rating in the passenger-side small overlap front test. It must also earn an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention and a good headlight rating.”
When this sedan was put to the test, it stood out in its segment. The 2018 Forte earned “good” ratings in nearly every category. Its front crash prevention test received a “superior” rating, while its passenger-side small overlap front test and child seat anchors (LATCH) test each received an “acceptable” rating.
On top of its crash test ratings, the 2018 Kia Forte is also equipped with several driver-assist technologies to prevent accidents from occurring. All trim levels come with a Brake Assist System (BAS) and Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), but you can add even more features on higher trims. For example, the EX includes Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change Assist (LCA) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) to help improve your visibility behind the wheel.
Safety should never take second place. The Forte stands out as a safe, reliable option for drivers, with passive and active safety features to help you along the way. Stop by your local Kia dealership to test drive the award-winning 2018 Kia Forte.
