The Science of Speed
by Dr. Dan Moser, Ph.D. & Jeff Devlin

Since many of you are hoping to peak for your final big race of the season, we thought that it would be a perfect time to talk about the taper.

The reason for tapering is to prevent overtraining, staleness and injury before the designated race. The natural tendency of highly motivated athletes is to drive hard right up till game time. However, this often leads to a “flat” or sub-par race performance.

This month, the science of speed looks as various tapering strategies and helps you pick one that is right for YOU!

The science of speed combines two expert perspectives on seasonal triathlon testing, training, and racing and is sponsored by ELITE Testing (a division of ELITE Health & Wellness) (http://www.elitetesting.com), located in Philadelphia.
