2004 USAT MID-ATLANTIC REGION ELECTIONS TO BE HELD IN JANUARY 2004
The 2004 Elections for the Board of Directors the USAT Mid-Atlantic Region will take place in January 2004. Directors for the following states in the Mid-Atlantic Region will be elected: Delaware, Pennsylvania & New Jersey, and North Carolina. 2004 USAT MIDATLANTIC REGIONAL FEDERATION ANNUAL MEETING IS SCHEDULED
After a several year hiatus, the Mid-Atlantic Region will be hosting an annual membership meeting on January 24, 2004. The meeting will feature a wrap-up of the 2003 season and members will have an opportunity to meet the Region’s Board of Directors.

REGISTRATION OPENS FOR 2004 GREATER ATLANTIC MULTISPORT SERIES
Online registration is up and running for all 2004 Greater Atlantic Multisport Series events, produced by Piranha Sports. The Series features a combination of six triathlon and duathlon events in the Mid-Atlantic region, with separate rankings and prizes for those competing in three or more events.

USA TRIATHLON NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER DEVELOPMENT TEAM TO BE LAUNCHED IN JANUARY 2004

The USA Triathlon National Training Center Development Team will be launched in January 2004. This team has been developed to elevate up-and-coming triathletes to the next level of national and international competition. The deadline for consideration is January 9th, 2004.

COMERFORD REPEATS TITLE AT IRONMAN FLORIDA
Scotland’s Bella Comerford claimed her second consecutive title at Ironman Florida on Saturday, November 8, 2003. Enjoying near perfect conditions, Comerford finished with an overall time of 9:26:17, less than 30 seconds shy of the course record. Germany’s Timo Bracht won the men’s title in a time of 8:30:29. Eight athletes from the Mid-Atlantic region earned slots to Kona for next year’s Ironman world championship.

Happy Holidays, everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying a nice break from a season for the ages here in the Mid-Atlantic. When I say it was for the ages, I’m not talking about personal bests or maximum efforts: If you got out there and raced this year, chances are you survived some form of weather so heinous, it made you one tough triathlete when it was all over. Did you freeze at Columbia? Need a water-rescue at the Escape from Fort Delaware? Work on your surfing at Eagleman? If you did, then you already know that nothing that comes your way next year will scare you, right? Always gotta’ find that silver lining…

MULTISPORT EXPO & SWAP MEET SCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 15, 2004

COURSE RECORD IS SET AT THE PHILADELPHIA MARATHON
On Sunday November 24, 2003, Kenyan Joseph Nderitu won the Philadelphia Marathon men's title in a course-record record time of 2 hours, 16 minutes, 47 seconds. Nderitu finished more than three minutes ahead second place finisher and fellow Kenyan Charles Kamindo. Right behind Kamindo were two finishers from the Mid-Atlantic Region, Edward Callinan (Cherry Hill, NJ) and Matthew Byrne (Philadelphia, PA). The winner of the women's race was Seana Carmean, (Amherst, Mass.) Carmean barely edged out the Mid-Atlantic Region's Deirdre Brill (Downingtown, Pa.).
