U.S. AGE GROUPERS HEAT UP CANCUN
by USA Triathlon
Despite high heat and
humidity, U.S. age groupers grabbed 17 gold medals, including a sweep of all
but one of the women’s categories, on November 9th at the 2002
International Triathlon Union (ITU) Triathlon World Championships. U.S.
disabled athletes added to the gold medal tally with five. Brian
Leske (Washington, D.C.) brought home the only gold medal for the region, winning
the above-knee amputee male race by less than 30 seconds. A handful of other Mid-Atlantic athletes
also had stellar days.

by Dan Moser, Ph.D. & Jeff Devlin

on TV and many of us are now looking ahead toward a winter of training to
prepare for an even better season next year.
We are evaluating our strategies and trying to figure out what we could
change. So as we get ready to start the
winter hibernation, and our attention shifts from fast feet to festive feasts,
what better time to revisit the physiology of carbohydrate (CHO) storage
throughout training and racing.
The
science of speed combines two expert perspectives on seasonal triathlon
testing, training, and racing and is sponsored by ELITE Testing (a division of
ELITE Health & Wellness) (http://www.elitetesting.com),
located in Philadelphia.
