LURAY INTERNATIONAL TRIATHLON TO HOST 2007 "BEST OF THE US" VIRGINIA QUALIFIER
by Jerry MacNeil

Best of the US Management is pleased to announce that the inaugural Luray International Triathlon, which will be contested on Saturday, August 18, will host the 2007 “Best of the US ” Virginia Qualifier. The fastest resident amateur male and female finisher will be invited to represent the Old Dominion at the “Best of the US National Championship” on October 6 at Cypress Gardens Adventure Park in Winter Haven, Florida

The Luray International Triathlon is an intermediate distances race consisting of a 1.5K two lap swim in scenic Lake Arrowhead near Luray, followed by a 25 mile bike leg through the forests and farmland of the Shanandoah Valley and concluding with a rolling 10K run on the lightly traveled roads of Page County. The event is expertly directed by Greg Hawkins of Set-Up Events and David Glover of Endurance Works, LLC and is part of the popular Virginia Triathlon Series. The Luray International Triathlon replaces the Kinetic Sprint Triathlon, which hosted the 2006 BOUS qualifier. Kinetic Sprint is also produced by Set Up Events, which produces or times more than 70 great multisport races in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Proceeds from Luray International benefit Choices, Council on Domestic Violence for Page County, Inc. For more information on the Luray International Triathlon and its Luray-based beneficiary, visit http://www.setupevents.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=event_detail&eventID=669
