Best
of the US Management is pleased to announce that the inaugural Luray
International Triathlon, which will be contested on Saturday, August 18, will
host the 2007 “Best of the US ” Virginia Qualifier. The fastest resident
amateur male and female finisher will be invited to represent the Old Dominion
at the “Best of the US National Championship” on October 6 at Cypress Gardens
Adventure Park in Winter Haven, Florida
The
Luray International Triathlon is an intermediate distances race consisting of a
1.5K two lap swim in scenic Lake Arrowhead near Luray, followed by a 25 mile
bike leg through the forests and farmland of the Shanandoah Valley and
concluding with a rolling 10K run on the lightly traveled roads of Page County.
The event is expertly directed by Greg Hawkins of Set-Up Events and David
Glover of Endurance Works, LLC and is part of the popular Virginia Triathlon
Series. The Luray International Triathlon replaces the Kinetic Sprint
Triathlon, which hosted the 2006 BOUS qualifier. Kinetic Sprint is also
produced by Set Up Events, which produces or times more than 70 great
multisport races in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
