by USA Triathlon

Sunny Gilbert of Boulder, Colo., and Trenton Tollakson of Hutchinson, Kan., thrived in the high heat to take the overall titles at the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships, presented by TriGenix Sports Nutritional Systems on Saturday in Shreveport, La.
Gilbert, 25, completed the 1.5k swim, 40k bike and 10k run in 2 hours, 12 minutes and 7 seconds. Tollakson, 24, completed the course in 1:57:36.
The top six finishers in each age group category qualified for the 2005 International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Triathlon Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii. Ten more qualifiers in each age group will be chosen at the 2005 age group championships at a site and date to be determined.
Tollakson was the bronze medalist in the men's 20-24 age group at the ITU world triathlon championships in May in Portugal. He finished eighth in the 20-24 age group in 2003.
Gilbert finished third at the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships in April in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and first in the women's collegiate division at the Wildflower Triathlon on May 2 in Lake San Antonio, Calif.
