The USA Triathlon National
Office reports that it is now offering its annual age group members another
benefit - online race-ranking points updated bi-weekly.
When an age group athlete
competes in a USA Triathlon-sanctioned multi-sport event, he or she receives
rankings points based on the event distance, the number of competitors, the
time of the winner and whether or not the event is a championship.
Once the athlete has
completed three USA Triathlon-sanctioned triathlons or three USA
Triathlon-sanctioned duathlons, he or she is included in the national rankings,
posted at the end of the year.
Now, athletes can go to the
USA Triathlon web site at
http://www.usatriathlon.org
and see how many points they earned at an event. This will help them figure out
where they rank in their age group.
The USA Triathlon Rankings
Program is contingent upon race directors turning in their race results as soon
as possible. When you go to the 2002 rankings page, you will find a link to the
events calendar. The calendar lists all USA Triathlon-sanctioned events. Next
to some completed events will be a link to "rankings." Click there to
find the rankings points.
If an event has been
completed, but does not have a "rankings" link, then click on
"details" and scroll down to "Event Age Group Ranking Results
Accountability." If it says "WILL EVALUATE" that means the race
director has turned in results, but they have not yet been processes. If it
says "NO RESULTS," it means the race director has not yet turned in
race results.
There is also a button on
the 2002 rankings page that will take you to a search function where you can
search for individual results.
