As of March 26, 9,162 individuals had applied for annual membership to USA Triathlon. That number compares to 6,336 in 2001. The 2,826-member increase is a 30.8 percent increase from this date in 2001.
 
That number is impressive when one considers that 2001 was a record year for USA Triathlon. In 2001, 29,886 individuals became annual members of the organization. Adding on the carry-over members from 2000, USA Triathlon 2001 annual membership was 32,866.
 
USAT hopes to grow its membership to 40,000 this year. At our current rate, that goal will be achieved easily.
 
For those of you thinking about joining USAT, now is the time to do it.  United Airlines has provided USAT with a limited number of bike fee waivers to be given to annual members.  These vouchers, valued at $150, entitle members to ship their bikes free of charge on flights booked on United Airlines.
