Devin Clause, Accounting Graduate Spring 2010
Devin Claus grew up in Enderlin ND, a small town of just over 1000 people located 56 miles from Fargo. He comes from an industrious family filled with entrepreneurial minds. His father works as a welder and owns a hobby farm and his mother is a restaurant owner and operates a T-shirt design company. Devin recalls operating a sno-cone stand when he was young while his mother's restaurant held sales. "I remember going from the hand crank machine to the industrial machine" recalls Devin. It was clear then that Devin was going places.
In high school, Devin did a little accounting for his family, and knew that it was something that he could pursue. He entered UND as an accounting major with an emphasis in managerial finance and has never looked back. Devin has exhibited a profound understanding of accounting while at UND and has secured employment with Deloitte in Minneapolis after attending their Premier Student Program during the summer of 2009.
Devin has been very active in Phi Beta Lambda, the collegiate extension of FBLA, serving as state president this year, and the chapter's president the two preceding years. Most recently he has presided over the State Leadership Conference held here in Grand Forks April 8th - 10th, 2010.The conference hosted 120 students from all over the state and consisted of speakers, tours, competitions and social events over the two days.
Another great honor was bestowed on Devin in the summer of 2008 when he was invited to be one of eight students nationally who would sit on the NASBA's (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) student panels to field questions related to accounting student issues.
In addition to an outstanding performance at UND, Devin is also an avid Sioux fan, and enjoys going to Vikings football games with his grandfather. He is also an avid reader, traveler and sportsman.
