Siemens PLM Software - PLM Perspective
Executive Outlook - June 2009
Another Step Forward
Tony Affuso
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer

Last year at this time, we were pleased to bring to you a new vision for 3D modeling – synchronous technology. Synchronous technology was announced as the first ever history-free, feature-based modeling technology that combines the best of dimension- and constraint-driven techniques for full control and repeatability, with the flexibility of direct modeling.

Since that time, synchronous technology has formed a new foundation for both Solid Edge® software and NX™ software, and has had tremendous impact on the PLM industry with literally hundreds of articles and blogs being written on the topic. The widely respected industry analyst Ken Versprille from CPDA asserted that “The year 2008 will record a milestone event in the history of 3D CAD design…In much the same manner as CAD users were exposed to parametric modeling in the 1980s and came to understand and value its impact over time, Siemens PLM Software’s synchronous technology will find an equally appreciated role in product modeling across all industry verticals.”

Now, in 2009, we are taking another step forward with new advancements in the use of synchronous technology.
