In February, UGS announced 2006 revenue of US$1.2 billion and our 14th consecutive quarter of year-over-year revenue growth – a clear indicator of the increasing adoption of PLM solutions worldwide. One of the ways we have been helping our customers gain maximum value from PLM is by pinpointing eight PLM business initiatives that enable companies to identify the best places to start their PLM implementation. I’ve discussed several of these in previous issues of PLM Perspective and this month I’d like to focus on how PLM facilitates commonization and reuse.
Many companies today waste time, money and people resources on unnecessary duplication of effort at every stage of the product lifecycle and across their networks of global suppliers and strategic partners. Not only is this costly, it creates a tremendous barrier to innovation in both processes and products. To be competitive, companies need to find ways to get the most out of every component and process they create across their product portfolio.
