As you can see from his background, Helmuth has helped develop and lead a number of very successful organizations. In 1990, after studying industrial engineering in Karlsruhe, Germany and business administration in Chicago, he joined Siemens in corporate strategy. He subsequently opened and built up the first Siemens organization in Kazakhstan, serving as general manager until 1996, when he joined Siemens’ Automation and Drives (A&D) group with responsibility for Process Instrumentation Systems. From 1998 until 2001 he was head of A&D’s Energy and Industry division in Buenos Aires, then, from 2001 to 2002 served as division president for the A&D Software and Systems House. In 2002 he moved to A&D’s Systems Engineering division where he served as president until joining us this month.
Helmuth and I have spent a great deal of time together over the past weeks and I can tell you he is very excited to be a part of UGS PLM Software and soundly shares our company-wide commitment to customer success. I have no doubt that his many talents will be of great value both to our company and to our customers.
Helmuth joins UGS PLM Software at a very favorable time, thanks in great part to our second quarter performance -- one that represents our 16th consecutive quarter of year-over-year revenue growth. I am excited to report that in our Q2 (our first quarter as part of Siemens) our software license revenue growth – the primary measure of growth for a software company -- was strong, significantly exceeding that of our key competitors. We achieved this very strong performance while managing the significant challenges of closing our Siemens acquisition and accelerating the global integration process. As we continue to work our way through this process, I will look forward to keeping you updated in future issues of PLM Perspective.
