BREAKING NEWS!
No Cost Training Is Now Available for Michigan Tourism Industry Employees!

It is our pleasure to introduce you to the new Michigan Tourism Virtual Training Academy (MTVTA) portal web site.  We are in the process of developing five prepaid, self-paced, specialized tourism and hospitality skills training courses that will be offered online at
www.tourismcenter.msu.edu/MTVTA

The first Academy course, “Overcoming Challenging Service Situations in Tourism, is now available at that site.  Some of the content included in the course was developed by one of the leading companies in online education and represents the finest training available on the Internet today.   The remaining content has been tailored by us specifically for tourism industry employees in Michigan.

Future courses may cover such topics as: communication skills, customer service, leadership, sales and marketing, and more.

With budget cuts and tightened spending, it’s good to know that the training courses are prepaid and available at no cost to Michigan businesses and non-profit organizations with 25 or fewer employees.  Businesses with over 25 employees may inquire about the user fee.

For more information, contact Don Holecek, director of the Tourism Resource Center at
dholecek@msu.edu, or Joe Fridgen, chair of the Department of Park, Recreation, and Tourism Resources at jfridgen@msu.edu.
