MICHIGAN VIRTUAL TOURISM TRAINING ACADEMY (MTVTA)
Training Topic of the Month - Leadership

Does a leader have to be a manager or a person with seniority?  Absolutely not!  Can a housekeeper be a leader?  How about a waiter?  Or a front-desk employee?  A store manager?  The committee chairperson? Yes!  All five have potential to be leaders.  Employees at all levels within a business, in all types of businesses, from a part time employee to the CEO have the ability to develop leadership skills.  What does it take to become a leader?  Can anyone do it?  Absolutely!

Being a leader has more to do with focusing on teamwork and relationships than having the corner office or a brass nameplate on your door.  Not all managers are leaders and not all leaders are managers.  Good leadership skills are learned, and in an organization they can strengthen employee groups and foster a team atmosphere.  Employees with leadership skills may get along with co-workers better, and have better judgment and decision-making skills, which will positively impact any business.

In this month’s featured BeeFreeway course, “
Dynamics of Leadership,” learn what it takes to gain leadership skills, train yourself and others to lead, recognize the benefits of building strong relationships with co-workers and bosses, and learn how to build strong, long-lasting coaching relationships.  It is important to know that leadership can be achieved at all levels, not just in management!

MICHIGAN TRAVEL INTENTIONS INDEX

This index is derived from the data generated by a monthly phone survey of 400 households, selected at random, from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio, Ontario and Wisconsin. The index is a measure of the difference between respondents who expect to take  "more" versus "fewer" pleasure trips to Michigan in the next 12 months. Comparisons are made to the last month and the last 12 months.
