07-03-03 – The value of the U.S. dollar compared to the Canadian dollar continued to slide in June 2003 and ended the month with one U.S. dollar being equal to $1.35 Canadian.

06-11-03 – In April and May of 2003, the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar vs. the Canadian dollar continued a downward slide begun in November of last year.  In April, one U.S. dollar equaled $1.46 Canadian, and in May, one U.S. dollar equaled $1.38 Canadian.  This is the first time since October of 1997 that the value of the U.S. dollar vs. the Canadian dollar has been this low.  Fewer Michiganders may choose to visit Canada if this trend continues.

05-02-03 – In March 2003, one U.S. dollar equaled $1.48 Canadian.  This increase in the value of the Canadian dollar in the United States has positive implications on an increased number of Canadian tourists crossing the border to vacation in Michigan.

03-24-03 – In January 2003, one U.S. dollar was equivalent to $1.54 Canadian; however, that declined to $1.51 in February; that's the weakest the U.S. dollar has been in Canada since January 2001 when it was equal to $1.50 Canadian.

12-20-02 – In recent months, there has been very little variance in the exchange rate between the U.S. and Canadian dollars.  If you want to check the exact exchange rate at any given point in time you can log onto the
Bank of Canada’s Currency Converter page.

11-26-02 – In October 2002, one American dollar was equal to $1.58 Canadian.

10-26-02 – The value of the U.S. dollar remained relatively flat in September 2002, rising only to $1.58 Canadian.  This means that a tourist taking one U.S. dollar into Canada is holding money worth $1.58 Canadian.

09-27-02 – In August 2002, one American dollar was equal to $1.57 Canadian.

09-05-02 – The U.S. dollar continued to be strong, compared to the Canadian dollar in July 2002.

07-29-02 – The U.S. dollar continued to decrease in value compared to the Canadian dollar in June 2002, reaching nearly its same level from the same month last year.

06-28-02 – In May 2002, the U.S. dollar decreased in value compared to the Canadian dollar (and many other foreign currencies), reaching its lowest level since August 2001.

05-23-02 – Nothing new to report.

04-17-02 – Reaching an all-time low in January 2002, the exchange rate on the Canadian dollar is not conducive to Canadian travelers spending time or money in the United States.  The value of the Canadian dollar has fluctuated little between November 2001 and April of 2002.  It continues to hover between $1.58 and $1.60, as compared to the American dollar.
