12/20/02 – The statewide average high temperature in November 2002 was slightly below the normal level, which is based on long-term historical data on file at the Midwestern Climate Center.  Last November was significantly warmer than both the normal level and the level Michigan experienced in November 2002.

11/26/02 – October 2002 is the first month since May of this year that the statewide average high temperature has been lower than the long-term normal level for the month.  It registered nearly 57 degrees Fahrenheit this month. The normal temperature for October is slightly higher than 57 degrees.

10/26/02 – September 2002 marks the fourth consecutive month that the statewide average high temperature has been higher than the long-term normal level for the month.  The normal temperature for the month is 69 degrees Fahrenheit, it was 67 degrees Fahrenheit in September 2001, and same month this year registered 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

09/27/02 – August 2002 continued the summer trend of the statewide average high temperature being higher than the normal level for the month.

09/05/02 – Statewide average high temperature was significantly higher in July 2002 than July 2001 or the normal level for the month.  Overall, it was a very warm month.

07/29/02 – The statewide average high temperature in June 2002 was a bit higher than both June 2001 and the normal level for the month.

06/28/02 – After a warm start to the year, April and especially May were cooler than normal and substantially cooler than the same periods in 2001.

05/23/02 – This is one of two new charts that we have added to this second issue of Michigan Tourism Business.  Temperature has a big impact on the activities of tourists in Michigan, since many tourist activities take place in the out of doors.  January and February 2002 were significantly warmer than the long-term normal average.  However, the statewide average high temperature in March was slightly lower than the long-term average.
