11/26/02 – October 2002 continued the summer’s trend of statewide total precipitation much lower than normal levels.

10/26/02 – As indicated in the chart above, the statewide total precipitation was dramatically lower than normal during the month of September 2002.  This continues a rainfall deficit trend that began in June of the year.

09/27/02 – August 2002 brought little relief to a state suffering from the effects of a lower than normal amount of precipitation for the entire summer season.

09/05/02 – Statewide, Michigan received lower than normal amounts of precipitation in July 2002.  However, more rain was received than during July of 2001.

07/29/02 – Michigan received extremely lower amounts of rain in June 2002 than is normal for the month, causing severe problems for many farmers in the state.

06/28/02 – April and May 2002 were also wetter than normal; however, they were both significantly drier than the same months in 2001.

05/23/02 – This is the second new chart that we have added to this second issue of Michigan Tourism Business.  Due to the impact precipitation has on many tourist activities and travel plans, the editors thought you might find it to be a useful addition.  So far in 2002, we have experienced a drier-than-normal January, significantly wetter February and April, and a March with near normal precipitation.
