Reaching an all-time low in January 2002, the exchange rate on the Canadian dollar is not conducive to Canadian travelers spending time or money in the United States.  The value of the Canadian dollar has fluctuated little between November 2001 and April of 2002.  It continues to hover between $1.58 to $1.60 as compared to the American dollar.

In May 2002, the U.S. dollar decreased in value compared to the Canadian dollar (and many other foreign currencies), reaching its lowest level since August 2001.

The U.S. dollar continued to decrease in value compared to the Canadian dollar in June 2002, reaching nearly its same level from the same month last year.  The U.S. dollar continued to be strong compared to the Canadian dollar in July 2002.
