This is one of two new charts that we have added to this second issue of Michigan Tourism Business. Temperature has a big impact on the activities of tourists in Michigan, since many tourist activities take place in the out of doors. January and February 2002 were significantly warmer than the long-term normal average. However, the statewide average high temperature in March was slightly lower than the long-term average.
After a warm start to the year, April and especially May were cooler than normal and substantially cooler than the same periods in 2001.
