"Miss Rosie" was inspired by stepped hydroplanes raced in the 1930's & 40's, but built to three-quarter scale with a deeper vee hull design. Hand-built by experienced racer and boat lover Tom Costello, this project was begun in 1995 and completed in 1997 through over 1,000 hours of meticulous craftsmanship.
The hull and deck are formed of mahogany plywood, framed in oak and mahogany and treated by West system techniques throughout. The show-stopping exterior is two layers of glass, professionally painted and clear-coated.
"Miss Rosie" has been featured as a Gold Cup entrant seven times and shown at numerous other events throughout the Midwest -- sure to be recognized by classic boat and racing afficianodos.
