In the specialty market of high quality, large aluminum castings (individual castings with a net weight in excess on two hundred pounds) there are a relatively small number of qualified suppliers. Key to supplying this specialty market is the ability to produce and deliver to the mold a high volume of quality, gas free aluminum at the precise

temperature required. The process will generally not allow metal to be melted in a breakdown furnace and transferred to a pouring ladle due to time and temperature restraints. The time required to degas the aluminum in the pouring ladle is too long to maintain the required temperature. If the temperature is raised in the breakdown furnace to allow for the time required to degas, more degassing is required as a result of the higher temperatures and critical alloys may be burnt off. The aluminum may be degassed in the breakdown furnace, however, gas will be introduced again during the transfer to the pouring ladle. Even an experienced melt crew may chase this problem from one area to another never

producing a good quality large capacity aluminum casting and, certainly, not a profitable one by any measure.
One solution for producing large capacity, high quality, aluminum castings is the TL-Series™ Aluminum Melting Transport Ladle. This unique product combines the full melting capability of a breakdown furnace with the mobility and pouring control of a ladle. This high performance Aluminum Melting Transport Ladle uses a UL Listed, three phase, industrial duty quick-disconnect switch for true plug-in operation. It allows you to melt, degas and pour a full heat of aluminum alloy in a single furnace, with no transfers, while maintaining precise temperature control. The

Aluminum Melting Transport Ladle is available in sizes from 400 lb. through 3,000 lb. of aluminum capacity.
Solid State Power Control assures peak performance at maximum operating efficiency, never using more energy than the exact amount required to melt or hold. PID process control provides fully automatic melting and all Thermtronix® furnace control panels are Listed to UL Standards of Safety by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL). This added value is your assurance of performance, safety and reliability.
A rugged, double reduction, mechanical gear box with a stainless steel drag brake provides precise pouring control while eliminating hydraulic valves and fluids. An immersion thermocouple assembly, in direct contact with the molten aluminum alloy, assures precise temperature and process control throughout the entire process.
