For 2011, Audi continues to offer luxury midsize SUV buyers one of the best performers in its class. The new 2011 Audi Q7 builds on the success of the much-heralded and restyled 2010 model, but takes things a step further. For 2011, the Q7 receives exterior improvements, an all-new eight-speed Tiptronic® transmission and a pair of efficient and powerful supercharged V6 engines under the hood.
What hasn't changed for 2011 is the Q7's ability to seat seven passengers in luxury. With quality craftsmanship and impressive German engineering, the 2011 Q7 continues to deliver a first-class driving experience and plenty of room for your passengers and cargo. The Q7 boasts up to 20 seating configurations and up to 72.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Its three rows of seats fold to handle larger cargo items as well. There's even a standard power tailgate to make loading easier. The stylish and capable Q7’s wheel options range from standard 18-inch six-spoke models to sleek 21-inch five-tri-spoke wheels with 19- and 20-inch options, too.
The 2011 Q7 (MSRP starting at $46,250, a decrease from last year) is available in 3.0T Premium and Premium Plus, 3.0T S Line Prestige and clean diesel TDI Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige models.
The latest generation of Audi's available Multi Media Interface (MMI®) system supplies the Q7 with 3D navigation and a redesigned controller to more easily navigate the system's screens. It is one of the most advanced infotainment systems on the market with a voice command program that understands even every day phrases like “I need gas” or “I need to stop at the ATM.”
New interior features include an available power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, ventilated front seats and a tinted panorama roof. Entertainment options include standard SIRIUS Satellite Radio and available HD Radio®, which provides crystal-clear, distortion-free sound, more channel options and no subscription fees. With gas prices constantly fluctuating, it's good to know that the trip computer has a new efficiency display to help drivers maximize their fuel economy.
State-of-the-art high-intensity xenon plus headlights are now available, as is Adaptive Control to better light the turns. That Audi adaptive headlight system analyzes steering wheel angle and vehicle speed to rotate the lights up to 15 degrees. The headlights are complemented by available, Audi signature LED daytime running lights, which use half the energy of conventional bulbs while increasing visibility. The 2011 Audi Q7 also uses LED taillights, giving the Q7 a distinctive look from the rear, a view many competitors will have of the new Q7.
With the biggest changes under the hood, the 2011 Q7 offers a diverse powertrain lineup with an option for every driver. The efficient and affordable 3.0-liter TDI® (Turbo Direct Injected) clean diesel is available, producing 225 hp and a whopping 406 lb/ft of torque. The other engine options are all new. The Q7 offers two versions of Audi’s new 3.0-liter TFSI supercharged V6, both of which provide more than adequate power and improved fuel economy.
Producing 272 hp and 295 lb/ft in the 3.0T and an even more impressive 333 hp and 325 lb/ft in the high-end version 3.0T S Line, both TSFI engine versions are rated at 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway (an improvement on the previous models they replaced) while the clean diesel is rated at an estimated 17/25 by the EPA – simply fantastic numbers for an SUV of its size. Still standard are Audi's noted driving dynamics, which give it a smooth ride and great handling.
All three engines are mated to a new eight-speed Tiptronic® transmission that provides smoother shifts and contributes significantly to the improved fuel economy ratings. Whichever engine you choose, engine power is delivered in Audi's typical smooth, refined manner.
