Porsche is taking the quote “any color you like, so long as it’s black” and applying it like never before. The new 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera Black Edition shows the darker side of Porsche, and it’s like nothing else on the road.
The 911 Black Edition offers an outstanding overall value for buyers, representing a significant savings over a similarly equipped 911 Carrera. The 911 Black Edition features a comprehensive list of standard equipment, and buyers can choose between Coupe (MSRP $81,300) and Cabriolet ($91,300) body styles.
The drivetrain consists of Porsche’s 3.6-liter “Boxer” six-cylinder engine putting down a robust 345 hp and 288 lb/ft of torque to the rear wheels. With its advanced six-speed manual transmission, this ebony streak sprints from zero-to-60 mph in 4.7 seconds; with the optional PDK dual-clutch transmission, expect two-tenths faster. 
And it gets better. The 911 Black Edition with the PDK gearbox returns an incredible 19 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. The 911 Black Edition coupe’s top speed with the six-speed manual is 180 mph, 178 mph with the PDK.
Every 911 Black Edition is outfitted with 19-inch 911 Turbo II wheels (normally an option), which offer a clear view of the massive four-piston calipers, painted black, of course. Upon opening the door to enter the cockpit, stainless steel door guards greet you with “Black Edition” lettered in black. Once inside, other exclusive touches include an all black dashboard and sport-design steering wheel with aluminum finish accents, heated, eight-way power-adjustable black leather seats and a special “Black Edition” badge on the glovebox.
